Accommodation | Smens offers tailored experience stays focusing on outdoor persuits, organic food and relaxation. The retreat is located in a traditional Swedish countryside village, in the heart of nature, yet only 1hr 45min north of Stockholm. The house easily sleeps 10 people in 4 beautiful and large double bedrooms. The budings originate from the late 1800s. Welcome to Smens!
All of our guests are welcome to full access of our entire house and grounds. This includes the wood fired hot tub located at the end of the garden toward the horse paddock paradise.
We are very passionate about travel and about everything the local region has to offer. Let us know if you want help organising any of your food requirements including: food hampers, cooked meals, crayfish parties, breakfast, picnics etc. We are also sport and outdoor enthusiasts and can help with anything sports and adventure related including: mountain biking, marking out hiking trails, boat trips, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, cross country skiing, down hill skiing, wild camping, game viewing, triathlon training, road biking etc etc!! Our two horses roam around the farm and one of the horses is available to rent for forest hacks or why not some dressage riding in the fields. Our two small boys are actively petitioning for a pony so that may soon materialise too!! We also organise horse/bike/hike trails with picnic lunches on request.
If we are around we can offer taxi service to and from train station and any local events.
Basically, if you have any requirements and ideas then let us know and we will try and make them happen!
The farm, as we call it, is at the outskirts of the small traditional village, Fornby. It consists of two houses, lots of different garden spaces and a farmbuilding with fields where our horses roam. The space has several sitting areas, a large kitchen diner, office/single bedroom and a further 4 generously sized(!) double bedrooms. The countryside is at the doorstep, with the forest directly North and fields with dirt tracks directly south. The farm was built in the late 1800's and while part of the main house was renovated in the 80's we are carefully bringing it back to its former glory.
The bedrooms are all freshly restored, as well as the upstairs bathroom and kitchen. It is truly a magical place, even at family gatherings with 8 adults and several children the space still feels spacious thanks to the large lounges and quiet upstairs. For those less keen on stairs the third reception room downstairs doubles as a bedroom and the downstairs bathroom with shower and toilet is fully functional.
We love to host children and have everything from toys, cots and highchairs- just ask. We even have a double cycle/ski buggy that can be pre booked for those wishing to explore the amazing outdoors activities!
